Look! Up in the Sky! It’s a Bird. It’s a Plane. It’s… a ‘Grassroots Club,’ Bub!

This sounds fun. Stirring from its usual somnambulence, the Washington State Republican Party (WSRP) has announced the formation of its very own “Grassroots Club.” On Friday the 13th. (Oh, the irony!) Let’s unpack this a bit.

That’s right, folks. For the low, low bargain basement price of just $8.25/month or $99.00-year, you too can be a Real Grassroots Activist! That’s right, boys and girls. Join WSRP’s Grassroots Club and you get to pay for what many of us do for free! (Batteries not included. Accessories sold separately.)

Oh, wait. Not quite. According to WSRP Chair Susan Hutchison’s June 13 email and the party web site, the stated goal of the pitch is to hire “field staff who will work for the next five months to elect and re-elect great Republicans.  But we can’t do it without your investment in our efforts!  There’s power in uniting!  So join the Grassroots Club!

Sign up for an automatic monthly deduction of $8.25.  It’s a small donation that adds up to $99 a year.  Think what can happen as concerned Republicans join together!  Become one of the first 100 people to join the club.  The WSRP’s Political Director, Jake Braunger was the first to become a Grassroots Club donor.  He wants you to join him!  Will you sign up now?

Well, yabba-dabba-doo! And that’s not all. No siree, Bob! Signing up includes some mighty nifty membership perks:

  • Quarterly conference call with WSRP Chairman Susan Hutchison.
  • Email updates
  • Special events for Grassroots Club members
  • Donation is automatically deducted so it’s easy!

Order in the next ten minutes and we’ll throw in 10,000 Dino Rossi for Governor T-shirts!

Well, shoot. $8.25/mo. may not be a bad investment at that. Then again, concerned Republican, you can always bypass the bureaucracy and donate directly to the candidate of your choice. After all, WSRP did manage to get exactly one (1) statewide candidate elected in 2012: Kim Wyman. So c’mon, folks. Lighten up. It can only get better:
