BACK By Popular Demand: More of ‘What’s Good in Grays Harbor’

“So,” The Big Guy says the other day. “I’m taking you out.”

“Out for what?”

“Out for a surprise.”

“What kind of ‘surprise’?”

I suppose the alternative was to punt. But I’m game. So I got in the car. We wound up at the Westport Winery. For lunch. And it was good.

That’s right, folks. The Westport Winery has a restaurant. It’s called the “Farm to Fork Restaurant and Bakery.” It’s open for lunch and dinner.

Just nine miles from the coast, the winery is tucked back from the road. If you blink, you’ll miss it. And that would be a shame. Because Grays Harbors’ first winery and vineyard is quite a find. Opened in 2008, this place is just fun. It has a gift store, nursery, sculptures, golf, and tours. You can even bring Fiddo, because it includes a dog park.

The restaurant interior with its blazing fireplace and rustic décor is as warm as it is quaint. The “fresh, local, healthy and homemade” food does indeed “exceed expectations.” Service is efficient and friendly.

Lunch options include seafood, soups, salads and burgers. The dinner menu includes salmon, prime rib, garlic tenderloin, Alaskan cod and Dungeness crab cakes. For lunch, try the Benedictine Quiche – Ham, bacon, chives, Cougar Gold and Swiss cheese served with tarragon aioli. For $10.00. Prices range from $10.00 to $19.00 for lunch and $20 to $35 for dinner (for the Angus Beef prime rib with garlic and rosemary).

If you’re looking for good food at reasonable prices in a unique, relaxing setting, surprise that Special Someone with a trip to the Westport Winery and restaurant. It’s located at 1 S.
