Basking ‘Deplorables’

Most of you know I’m not exactly a big fan of El Trumpo. I am, however, a yuuuuge fan of Les Miserables*.  It’s one of the most powerful, poignant musicals ever. An all-time favorite. So this Les Deplorables video resonated.

Do You Hear The People Sing? is probably the most widely recognized tune from Les Miz. Sung more than once during the  production, it packs a punch. The version below is based on the  Finale. It’s quite clever:

… We will live again in freedom
In the garden of the Lord
We will walk behind the plough-share
We will put away the sword
The chain will be broken
And all men will have their reward!

Will you join in our crusade?
Who will be strong and stand with me?
Somewhere beyond the barricade
Is there a world you long to see?
Do you hear the people sing?
Say, do you hear the distant drums?
It is the future that we bring
When tomorrow comes!

Btw, while we’re talking “basket of deplorables,” here are a few the Marquise de Kleptocratia left out:

* I am not speaking of that God-awful 2012 movie starring Russell Crowe and Anne Hathaway. That was just painful. I’m referring to the 1995 Dream Cast performance in Royal Albert Hall, London. The. Best. Ever.
