Transparency Resolution Dies

A resolution to improve transparency by negotiating collective bargaining contracts “in a manner open to the public” died this afternoon for lack of a second.

Following more than an hour of public comment from a packed house that was heavily pro-union, Commissioner Wes Cormier brought the resolution forward for a vote by the entire board. Neither Commissioner Vickie Raines nor Commissioner Randy Ross seconded, so the motion died.

More later. Stay tuned.

  1. So two non-democrat elected commissioners, who were elected with help of republican voters, chose not to second a democrat union issue? Did they switch sides or no guts? I will wonder next time when someone says they are neither republican or democrat if my vote goes there. This is not the first vote against the right thing to do.
